Vervelles

Used to attach the aventail to the helmet. Made of cast brass. We have found that these are quite durable and hold up well to SCA combat. Can be purchased separately or we will install them on your Anshelm bascinet. Typically we install 12 (period examples had as many as 30).

Pricing:
$6.00 each installed.

Aventail

Made in the USA of welded flat stainless steel links by Gordon Osterstrom (Master Knuut). Normally we supply our aventails fitted to Anshelm bascinets. This includes cutting-to fit around the back, around the face opening, and heavy cowhide whip-stitched onto the mail, for attaching it to the vervelles. Requires vervelles above.

Plain $200.
Add $100.00 for geometric pattern.

Finishing Touches

Now that you have ordered your dream helmet, it would be a shame to stuff it full of duct tape and blue foam and stick a modern buckle on to hold that fancy visor closed, and risk drilling a hole in the wrong place. We offer a Visor strap with period buckle attached, chinstrap installation, and a fabric-covered foam-padded helmet lining. This includes drilling the lining attachment holes bordering the hemet edge. See our Accessories page for buckle styles.

Pricing:
Visor strap with buckle $50.00
Chinstrap $50.00
Liner $350.00
